Dr. Mathers grew up west of Enid, Oklahoma. He attended the College of Osteopathic Surgery at Oklahoma State University (OSU), one of 38 osteopathic medical schools in the United States.

He holds privileges at area hospitals, including Hillcrest Medical Center and St. John Medical Centers in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
